We kept the Bob James pretty low and it fit in really well. It seemed as if it was actually playing at the Sambo's Restaurant where Kaufman and Blassie were sharing their breakfast. If we played the music too loud, it made us feel like we were in a Kohl's Department Store back in 1992.

This was a perfect match. Since the film was just two dudes talking at dinner the whole time, their conversation was a wonderful complement to Schulze's wonderful synthesized Moog drones and bloops.

Next we listened to the audio from All That Heaven Allows while playing Loren Connors albums

This was one of the best combinations ever! The unique subtleties of Connors' emotive guitar playing served as a really wonderful score to this film.

Next we listened to the audio from FM along with three White Rainbow albums

These albums sounded nice with this film. The new White Rainbow is really good. It was especially affecting as it was backing up Jeff Dugan's inspirational speech at the end. The radio station was saved and everything turned out just fine.

This sounded wonderful! I played the Ashra album twice in a row and it was the perfect accompaniment for the film. Its pulsating beeps and relaxing electronic drones soaked up Dreyfuss and Murray's comedic tension very well.

Next we listened to the audio from season three of The Bob Newhart Show along to Raymond Scott's "Soothing Sounds For Baby (Volumes 1-3)"

These went together okay, but the combination wasn't anything special.

This morning we listened to the audio from Gremlins along with the soundtracks to two other talkies scored by Jerry Goldsmith

These went together really well! Since Jerry Goldsmith did the music for all three of these they congealed together just fine, even though the soundtrack for "A Patch of Blue" was done in '65 and "Sleeping With The Enemy" in '91.

Today we listened to the audio from The Breakfast Club while playing Vangelis albums!

These worked very well together! A lot of the dialogue took on a completely different tone when accompanied by ethereal synth-drones. Two thumbs up!

The Soporus and Unwed Sailor EPs worked better than the Circle of Birds and Foxhole EPS for accompanying the audio of the film, which, by the sound of it, was pretty bad.

I actually did two of these yesterday.

The movie was the John Hughes classic Pretty In Pink.
I started out listening to it along with Sunn O)))'s "Monoliths & Dimensions", which was kind of cool, but the doominess and creepy recitations, although nice by themselves, didn't seem to mesh too well with Pretty In Pink. I switched to Belong's "October Language" (one of my favorite albums of the last decade!) and it was perfect!

It looks like I haven't updated this blog since February 12th!

The next several blogs will be about a daily project I am going to undertake each morning at work.

So, I work in a warehouse and we have a warehouse computer hooked up to warehouse speakers. Yesterday I listened to a dvd in the computer while streaming an album on the internet and it was awesome! I'm going to do that every day and then tell you how it turned out.

Yesterday's combination was Ernest Goes To Camp with "Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror" by Brian Eno and Harold Budd. They worked really well together! The highlight for me was Eno & Budd's "Not Yet Remembered" playing while Jim Varney is singing the super sad "Sure Am Glad It's Raining" ( with lines like, "Gee I'm glad it's raining, there's always something to be thankful for. I'm awfully glad it's raining, 'cause no one sees the tear drops when it pours.") The sparse arrangement of Varney's tune coupled with "Not Yet Remembered" was incredible!
